The salary that the company transferred to you compared to the one on the job description may be quite different. Many of you when receiving your salary are (almost always) surprised why your salary was deducted that much. Please read carefully the payslip to understand which one is the receipt and which one is the deduction!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">In this guide, we will take you through common Japanese terminology that will (hopefully) help you understand your payslip. Keep in mind that while you can rely on some of these terms to be constant (e.g. insurance), others will differ between companies (e.g. \u9045\u523b\u65e9\u9000 vs \u9045\u65e9\u6642\u9593). Each company has a different payroll format, but they will be divided into 4 main sections:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u300c\u52e4\u6020\u300d(\u304d\u3093\u305f\u3044): Detailed information about the number of working days, hours, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-2189\" src=\"http:\/\/wabisabi.media\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/23767820_m-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wabisabi.media\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/23767820_m-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/wabisabi.media\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/23767820_m-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/wabisabi.media\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/23767820_m-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/wabisabi.media\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/23767820_m-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/wabisabi.media\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/23767820_m.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u6240\u5b9a\u5c31\u52b4\u65e5\u6570\u30fb\u6240\u5b9a\u5c31\u52b4\u6642\u9593 (shotei shur\u014d niss\u016b\u30fbshotei shur\u014d jikan): fixed number of working days\/hours predetermined by the company<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u51fa\u52e4\u65e5\u6570 (shukkin niss\u016b): number of working days<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u4f11\u51fa\u65e5\u6570 (ky\u016bshutsu niss\u016b): number of day-off working days<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u6b20\u52e4\u65e5\u6570 (kekkin niss\u016b): number of days absent<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u6709\u4f11\u65e5\u6570 (y\u016bky\u016b): number of paid leave days (paid leave entitlement depends on your working conditions and length of employment with the company)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u6709\u4f11\u6b8b\u65e5\u6570 (y\u016bky\u016b zan niss\u016b): number of remaining paid leave days<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u7279\u4f11\u65e5\u6570 (toku ky\u016bjitsu s\u016b): number of special leave days. These are not legally required leaves but are instead agreed upon with the company (e.g. birthday leaves, sick leaves)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u51fa\u52e4\u6642\u9593 (shukkin jikan): total work hours (usually for part-time work, does not include lunch hour)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u666e\u901a\u6b8b\u696d\u6642\u9593 (futs\u016b zangy\u014d jikan): overtime (after your company\u2019s normal hours to 10:00 pm; 25% premium; also over the 40 legal work hours)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u6df1\u591c\u6b8b\u696d\u6642\u9593 (shinya zangy\u014d jikan): late-night overtime (from 10:00pm to 5:00am; 25% premium)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u4f11\u51fa\u6b8b\u696d\u6642\u9593 (ky\u016bshutsu zangy\u014d jikan): day off work overtime (holiday pay; when you work on a public holiday;
